Golf and other Sports

In this part of the world you are never far from a Golf Course, there are three in Alyth alone and plenty more within very easy reach including the mighty courses at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles.

Golf: Lands of Loyal has good relations with all the local courses particularly the three in Alyth; Strathmore, Alyth and Glenisla. We are always happy to help with golf arrangements, advice and bookings. Courses slightly further afield but still within 15 minute drive include Blairgowrie, Rosemount and Landsdowne, and for scenic views you can't miss Kirriemuir in the foothills of the cairngorm mountains. Another one to try is Dalmunzie which is a beautiful 40 minute drive up to Glenshee. But the mighty links courses of St Andrews and the tricky Carnoustie ones are still less than 1hour drive from the hotel.

Racing at Perth: for a wonderful family day out spend a day at Perthraces, there are meetings held from April to end of September. This beautiful course is only 25 minutes from the hotel, with an easy route that jumps the queue!!

Fishing, Shooting & Stalking : The area around the hotel is amongst the finest for these field sports. We can put you in touch with local agents connected with all the local estates. We are fortunate to have good relations with local landowners.

Walking: Walking in the beautiful Angus/Perthshire glens is very special experience. The well known Cateran Trail passes the hotel door. This is a circular walk that follows a 4/5 day long trail used by The Caterans, who were best known for theiving cattle and generally being lawless in the 17th Century. They are all gone now and you can enjoy your walk in peace through Glen Isla and Strathardle before returning through Glen Shee and Glen Isla back to Alyth. In October each year there is the Blairgowrie Walking festival .

Skiing: is only 30 minutes away at Glenshee. Skis and equipment can be easily hired from Blairgowrie on your way.

Horse riding is offered to varying degrees and levels, by Glenmarkie Stables, just a few miles from the hotel.

Team builing and executive games Auchterhouse Country Sports is a wonderful facility only 20 minutes from the hotel, which specialises in outdoor activities such as Off road driving, clay pigeon shooting, Quad biking, Archery and Off road Grass Buggies
